A mob of feral horses loose in a National Park is contrary to conservation so they had to move on, a cull avoided when a local group wanting to preserve the heritage of the horses took possession of the animals and they now reside on private land over near Wangary and Kellidie Bay. Belvidere is a great beach just north of Bunbury, with camping facilities near Leschenaulta inlet. If youve got a few more days, Fraser Island makes for the ultimate Hervey Bay 4WD trip extension! It's another 8km to the Cardabia Ningaloo 4WD track and then a further 51km to Coral Bay. It is remote, and is closed after heavy rain. Youll also find fuel and other limited supplies at Woodgate Beach although wed still recommend stocking up in Hervey Bay for more choice before heading out.
